May 2024 Youth Newsletter
Congratulations to all our graduates and happy end of school year to everyone!
Ephesians 4:15-16
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
We're already less than a month away from Summer break and oh boy is it busy before then!
We've got a LOT going on the next month, all capped off with VBS, so let's get to it!
Our first major activity this month is our VBS Build Night where we'll be building and assembling some of the big decorations and sets for VBS in June. We'll meet at 5pm on Friday, build, eat dinner, and wrap up around 9pm. These nights help us get ready for VBS which requires a LOT of work, so we'd really appreciate all our youth to come lend a hand!
The very next day we have an opportunity to help with landscaping at our Youth Volunteer Day. This is an opportunity to raise funds for our Youth Fund, which helps keep costs for events low or free, provides scholarships for those who need them, and helps fund our mission's trip each year. We'll meet in the at the church at 8am, head out to our project area, and be back around 1pm. Lunch and tools provided!
That seems like a lot in two days, but we're off for Mother's Day that weekend, so we'd love to see you at either or both events since we won't get to on Sunday evening!
The very next week our we've got a Youth Night at the Hymel's for our Conquerors group and 9th-12th grade youth. That's going to be an evening of food, fun, and fire as we gather for an early taste of summer! Hymel's are graciously providing the meat, fire, and venue, but we need a few people to pitch in and help with some of the other fixings, so please let me know if you're available to do so!
Finally, we get to June and VBS! It's always a busy two weeks leading up to and during VBS, and this year is very much the same. We've got our all volunteer training on the 1st from 9am-11am, regular youth that Sunday, VBS Monday-Thursday, with two youth volunteer events, one on Tuesday afternoon noon-2pm, and the other, our Volunteer Thank-you party from 1pm-3pm at Loch-Lon park (with Chick-fil-a), and no youth on Wednesday the 5th since we'll be midway through VBS.
